Pre-Service Teacher Courses
The Space Foundation offers a number of programs for pre-service teachers - or student teachers who are completing their education:
- Pre-service teachers may attend our regularly scheduled summer open enrollment Space Across the Curriculum in Colorado Springs, Colo. These week-long intensive, graduate-level courses provide space-related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) content in an experiential, hands-on format focused on national standards and STEM principles. Although the underlying focus is on STEM, the courses are structured to adapt lessons to all grade levels and all curriculum areas. Participants do NOT need to be studying to become science or math teachers.
- Colleges or universities can contract with us to develop customized Space Across the Curriculum courses specifically for pre-service teachers through teacher training programs.
- We can develop workshops and one-day Space in the Classroom sessions to introduce pre-service teachers to the concept of using space themes to enhance standards-based curriculum.
- Pre-service teachers engaged in student teaching can take advantage of our SOS-based courses or STARS programs for their students
Space Foundation pre-service teacher courses can be designed as coursework for existing courses or as stand-alone classes that provide credits that are applicable to both bachelor's and master's degrees.
