L3 Telemetry & RF Products Supports the Successful Launch of the Iridium NEXT Satellite Constellation

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 14, 2017) – L3 Telemetry & RF Products (L3 T&RF), a proud member of the Iridium Communications Inc. (IRDM) team, announced today that its CDU-100 command link decryptor and InControl™ commanding software successfully supported the January 14 launch of the first group of 10 Iridium NEXT satellites from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. Iridium NEXT marks the largest order for L3’s CDU-100, with a total of 80 units to be delivered for the full constellation.

Each Iridium NEXT satellite currently carries the L3 T&RF CDU-100 – a command link decryptor that meets CNSSP-12 policy requirements to enable satellite support of U.S. government missions. L3 T&RF also provides its InControl software in support of satellite fleet on-orbit operations for the Iridium Satellite Control Segment (SCS). InControl is specifically designed for satellite command and telemetry processing, general state-of-health monitoring, and anomaly identification and correction. It also includes several additional tools that will help keep the Iridium NEXT fleet healthy and operational.
