Improved and expanded Strategic Space 2005 set to convene in Omaha

09/29/2005

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sep. 30, 2005) -- The Space Foundation and Space News present Strategic Space 2005 4-6 Oct. at the Qwest Center Omaha Convention Center and Arena. Keeping pace with the dynamic changes at the United States Strategic Command, the conference features an expanded program and exhibit center and commences Tuesday, 4 Oct. at 6 p.m. with a performance by GRAMMY winning Chip Davis and Mannheim Steamroller. Strategic Space quickly has become a significant space event for the entire national security community. Highlights of the conference include innovative, timely panels; the opening ceremony and reception; a keynote luncheon with The Honorable David Heineman, governor, State of Nebraska; the exhibit center networking luncheon, and the closing reception and dinner featuring Gen James E. Cartwright, USMC, commander, United States Strategic Command. More than 2,000 people are expected to participate in various aspects of Strategic Space 2005. The growth of the conference has been faster than organizing officials envisioned at its creation in 2003, yet maintains intense networking opportunities between the senior leadership of the Command, component and supported commands, the aerospace contractor community, federal officials and other leaders. Strategic Space 2005 addresses both the space and space-enabled missions of the Command. Additional featured speakers include The Honorable Dr. Ronald M. Sega, under secretary of the Air Force; Lt Gen Robert Kehler, USAF, deputy commander, United States Strategic Command; and Mr. William V. Parker, political advisor, United States Strategic Command. More than 50 companies and organizations will be represented at Strategic Space 2005. In response to the sold-out exhibit space last year, an all-new exhibit center will feature nearly 13,000 sq. feet of the latest in technologies, systems, and solutions supporting the Command. The Space Foundation is also facilitating an educational component in which 250 local Nebraska students will tour the exhibit center. Key sponsors of Strategic Space 2005 are the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and Lockheed Martin, co-sponsors of the Opening Ceremony and Reception; The Boeing Co., co-sponsor of the Wednesday Keynote Luncheon; and Northrop Grumman, co-sponsor of the Strategic Space Dinner. Other sponsors include Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI), ATK, the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Blue Ridge Networks, Booz Allen Hamilton, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), CSP Associates, Inc., EcoQuest International, Honeywell, Raytheon Company, SAIC, and Sterling Computers, a Sun iForce partner.
