New Speakers Announced for International Space Symposium
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 2, 2002) -- The Space Foundation announced today the addition of several key satellite industry executives as confirmed speakers for the International Space Symposium, to be held here September 10-13. Michael Cook, vice president and general manager of the SPACEWAY Business Group of Hughes Network Systems and David Hartshorn, secretary general of Global VSAT Forum, will both participate in "Internet 3: The Case for Space" - a panel discussion set for Sept. 12. They join Hugh Arif, space initiatives manager, Global Defense and Space Group, Cisco Systems, Inc., on the panel discussion considering space technologies and architecture for the next generation Internet. Dr. Michael Healy, director, Navigation and Constellations, Astrium, has joined the panel discussion "Navigating Satellite Navigation," scheduled September 11. Previously confirmed are moderator Peter B. de Selding, European correspondent, Space News; Alain Bories, corporate vice president for space, Thales Group; and Oliver Colaitis, chairman, Galileo Industries and vice president, Alcatel Space Division. Pierre-Eric Lys, AGF Courtage, Space Risks Division, confirmed his role on the "Risky Business - Insuring Space Activities in Today's Market" panel on September 12. Will Trafton, president, Boeing Launch Services, moderates the panel. The Space Foundation conducts the International Space Symposium in association with Space News and more than 30 participating agencies and supporting organizations. CNES is the host national space agency for the 2002 symposium, which addresses business aspects of the $100 billion global space industry.
