Space Foundation, Regis University offer New Space Studies Master's Degree

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May. 1, 2003) — The Space Foundation and Regis University announced today the launch of a new Master of Education Degree program, with an emphasis in Space Studies Leadership. The new degree, offered by the Foundation and Regis in collaboration, is regionally accredited by North Central Association and provides a quality, easily accessible, distance-delivered professional leadership program for educators. The program comprises on-line graduate course work from Regis, in conjunction with a summer residency in Colorado Springs at the Space Foundation. The degree is designed for licensed teachers in K-12 public or private schools, home schooling parents, and others interested in education and/or space studies. (Space Foundation courses may be taken independently of a Master’s Degree for professional development, licensure credit or salary increment.) Regis University is rated by U.S. News & World Report magazine as a top tier university in the regional west.

The Space Foundation also offers another distinct Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Space Studies, in conjunction with the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The Foundation has trained more than 30,000 teachers since 1986 on Teaching With Space through Space Discovery graduate courses and national conferences. All courses and conferences meet state and national educational standards, with optional graduate credit available. The Foundation’s on-site NASA Educator Resource Center helps educators access and use science, mathematics, and technology instruction products aligned with national standards and appropriate state frameworks based on NASA’s unique mission and results.
