COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jun. 4, 2007) -- In an effort to assess the impact of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) on companies in the space industry, the Space Foundation has undertaken an ITAR compliance survey designed for senior executives and program managers. This survey, commissioned by the Space Foundation, is designed to acquire tangible information such as financial and personnel costs and programmatic delays, to better characterize the effect of ITAR regulations. The Everett Group of Annapolis, Md will be conducting the survey for the Space Foundation.
“For years we have heard anecdotal stories about the impact of ITAR on the space industry including increased costs, delays and impairing US companies’ ability to compete in the international marketplace,” stated Marty Hauser, vice president Washington Operations, Research and Analysis, for the Space Foundation. “We believe the effects are real, but there is very little concrete information available to quantify the actual depth and breadth of the impact on the space industry. The goal of our survey is to capture credible, concrete data on the costs of ITAR compliance. We will use it to better inform the debate on the issue and provide some authoritative reference for discussions on ITAR modernization.”
