Space Across the Curriculum Classes Continue in July

During June, the Space Foundation, one of the nation's top providers of space-related educational programs, delivered several Space Across the Curriculum professional development classes classes for teachers. Additional classes will be offered during July.

These week-long, intensive, graduate-level courses provide PreK-12 educators with space-related STEM (science, technology, mathematics, and engineering) education knowledge and content that is instantly transferable to the classroom. Participants can earn continuing education credits, graduate credits, or work toward a master's degree in multiple related disciplines.

June classes were held in three locations: at the Space Foundation Discovery Institute, 105 Coleridge Ave., Colorado Springs, Colo.; on the campus of Colorado State University - Pueblo; and in the suburban Chicago Lyons Township Consortium.

"The dedication these teachers displayed was refreshing," said instructor Bobby Gagnon, Space Foundation space education specialist. "I truly believe they will take what we have done here and use it in their respective classrooms."

Space Across the Curriculum courses offered so far this summer included:

• Rocketry: The Future of Human Space Exploration
• Biological and Physical Research: Long-Term Space Travel
• PreK-2 Early Childhood Space Exploration
• Astronomy Principles for the Classroom: Kinesthetic Astronomy

Classes to be offered during July are:

• Space Technologies in the Classroom: Imagery and High-Tech Science
• Earth Systems Science: Our Earth Revealed
