Space Exploration Seminar is Jan. 23

Especially for Colorado State University-Pueblo (CSU-Pueblo) students, the annual Space Exploration Seminar is presented by the Space Foundation and the CSU-Pueblo Office of Student Activities. The event is offered with support from the College of Education, Engineering and Professional Studies and the College of Math and Science.

The Space Exploration Seminar will be held at the Occhiato University Center, Library & Academic Resources Center, CSU-Pueblo, on Wednesday, Jan 23.

Breakout Sessions and Dinner FREE for CSU-Pueblo Students!

Advance registration is required 

and a CSU-Pueblo student photo I.D. required at registration. Teacher Education students earn class credits for each breakout session attended.

3:30 p.m. – Registration

4:00 p.m. – Breakout Session I

  • EDU 200 Classroom Strategies – Nanotechnology (specifically for education students)
  • SCI 210 General Engineering/Science – Robots: Past, Present and Future (for STEM students interested in exploring robotics)

5:00 p.m. – Breakout Session II

  • EDU 210 Classroom Integration – Robots: Past, Present and Future (specifically for education students)
  • SCI 200 General Science – Nanotechnology: It’s Bigger Than You Think (for STEM students interested in exploring nanotechnology)

Kurzweil Lecture Open to CSU-Pueblo Students and the Public

7:05 p.m. – Distinguished Speakers Series Presents: Ray Kurzweil

One of the leading inventors of our time, Ray Kurzweil was the principal developer of the first CCD flatbed scanner, the first omni-font optical character recognition system, the first print-to-speech reading machine for the blind, the first text-to-speech synthesizer, the first commercially marketed large-vocabulary speech recognition system and the first music synthesizer capable of recreating the grand piano and other orchestral instruments. He has authored four national bestselling books, including The Singularity is Near and How to Create a Mind, The Secret of Human Thought Revealed.
