Governor Hickenlooper will Open 32nd Space Symposium

The Space Foundation’s 32nd Space Symposium will officially launch on Monday evening, April 11 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with opening remarks at 6:30 p.m. by Colorado Governor John W. Hickenlooper and Space Foundation CEO Elliot Pulham.

The opening ceremony will continue with a performance by Tower of Power and presentation of the Space Foundation’s top awards. Recipients are:

  • Alan Shepard Technology in Education Award to Margaret Rhule Baguio, Senior Education Outreach Coordinator, NASA Texas Space Grant Consortium
  • Douglas S. Morrow Public Outreach Award to author Andy Weir
  • Space Achievement Award to SpaceX
  • John L. “Jack” Swigert, Jr., Award for Space Exploration to the Pluto New Horizons Exploration Team

The opening ceremony is sponsored by Northrop Grumman, with corporate host, Jeffrey D. Grant, Sector Vice President and General Manager of Space Systems, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems.

The opening ceremony will be followed by the grand opening of the Lockheed Martin Exhibit Center and Pavilion, featuring the world’s latest space technology, equipment and services. The evening concludes with fireworks lakeside, co-sponsored by Intelsat General Corporation.
