Florida Space Leadership Forum

Florida Space Leadership Forum COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 27, 2007) — The Space Foundation, in partnership with Space Florida, recently conducted the “Florida Space Leadership Forum” focused on the local, state, and national issues associated with the transition between the Space Shuttle and Constellation programs. 

The day-long event attracted a wide range of participants, including more than 100 executives, community leaders, and elected officials. Featured speakers included Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp, U.S. Congressman Dave Weldon, U.S. Congressman Tom Feeney, Kennedy Space Center Director Bill Parsons, 45th Space Wing Commander Brig. Gen. Susan Helms, and Space Florida President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Kohler.

Panel discussions integrated Congressional policy staff perspectives on the transition, local and state initiatives, and senior executive views about mitigating the workforce impact.
