Written by: Space Foundation Editorial Team

The Space Foundation's Washington, D.C., office hosted a Space Foundation Correspondent's Group (SFCG) meeting on March 5, 2008. Air Force Chief Scientist Dr. Mark Lewis, the featured speaker, addressed reporters representing national, trade, and wire services. Lewis is charged with looking at the total spectrum of science and technology across the United States Air Force.

During his remarks, Lewis spoke about his unique role in bringing an outside perspective to the Air Force. Topics of discussion ranged from sustaining the air fleet and hypersonic technology to programs that increase energy efficiency and decrease energy production to reducing the cost of access to space, and improving satellite functionality through extended battery life, better propulsion, and improved electronics and optical systems.

This SFCG event is part of a regular series of gatherings for Washington, D.C.-based space, defense, science and technology, business, and international journalists to engage in dialogue with leaders from across the space industry.
