Foundation CEO Inspires Future Leaders

Written by: Space Foundation Editorial Team

On Oct. 21, Space Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer Elliot Pulham was the keynote speaker in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the National American Pacific Islander Leadership Institute (NAPALI). Each year NAPALI brings together a hand-picked group of young engineers, teachers, and executives of Pacific Island heritage for leadership training and mentoring. Pulham delivered remarks drawn from his space career to help inspire this select group of young American leaders from Hawaii, Samoa, and Guam. A native of Ka'u, Hawaii, Pulham recounted his journey from small town Hawaii to space industry leadership, and the significant lessons of education, mentorship, leadership, and life-long learning that are crucial to servant leadership. He shared the importance of risk taking, learning from both failure and success, and the passionate pursuit of dreams, encouraging all these future leaders to "reach for the stars."

Pulham later met with Hawaii government officials in consultations on the future of Hawaii's space industry and the way ahead for a variety of innovative Hawaii space initiatives.
