Space Foundation Partners with Barnes & Noble for Space-Themed Event

In October, the Space Foundation, together with Barnes & Noble, presented a space-themed book reading event and activities in Colorado Springs to inspire young children's interest in space. Around 20 to 30 people attended each of the four reading sessions at the Barnes & Noble store on Briargate Blvd.

Space Foundation team members read aloud from How to Catch a Star, by Oliver Jeffers, and Mousetronaut Goes to Mars, by Mark Kelly and C. F. Payne. Each reading was followed by a hands-on activity to encourage the children to become passionate learners about space. There was no charge to the public for these activities.

Barnes & Noble designated Oct. 12-20 as one of its bi-annual teacher appreciation weeks, and invited the Space Foundation to participate in the in-store readings. The Space Foundation also used the opportunity to provide information to the attendees about our space-themed education programs.
