COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 5, 2003) -- The Space Foundation announced today that James `Jim` Jannette has been promoted to the position of Chief of Staff. Jannette had previously served as Space Foundation Vice President of Marketing and Communications and director of marketing, since joining the Space Foundation in 2000. Jannette is responsible for the day-to-day business operations of the Space Foundation and provides leadership in establishing procedures and processes. He acts for the President and Chief Executive Officer in his absence. READ MORE »
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 4, 2003) -- Nominations for the 2004 presentation of the Space Foundation's highest individual honor are being accepted now through Oct. 17, 2003. The General James E. Hill Lifetime Space Achievement Award is presented in memory of the Foundation's long-time chairman, the late General James E. Hill, USAF (Retired). READ MORE »
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.(Aug. 1, 2003) -- The Space Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2004 Space Technology Hall of Fame. All nominations are due to the Space Foundation by October 31, 2003. The Space Technology Hall of Fame honors technologies and innovators who have transformed space-based technology into commercial products and services. The Cochlear Hearing Implant, the high efficiency Digital Latching Valve, and the Humanitarian Demining Device were among the technologies honored in the 2003 Space Technology Hall of Fame. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jul. 22, 2003) -- The Space Foundation recently wrapped up its `Rocketry and the Biology of Living in Space` Space Discovery graduate course, a unique hands- on experience for educators to gain new skills and content knowledge in math, science and aerospace studies. (Jun. 25, 2003) -- The space-related components, strategies and requirements of United States Strategic Command and how these affect the space industry will be the focus of Strategic Space 2003, a two-day national security space conference, 2-4 September 2003 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Omaha, Neb. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jun. 19, 2003) -- NASA has selected the Space Foundation to form a "Blue Ribbon Panel" to develop new educator astronaut evaluative criteria. Led by Dr. Patricia "Patty" Arnold, Space Foundation Vice President of Education and Workforce Development, the nine-member panel is meeting at Space Foundation headquarters for an intensive five-week effort before submitting final criteria to NASA on July 3rd. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jun. 17, 2003) -- "The ability of humans to explore Mars has never been better, and the desire to do so has never been greater," said Space Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer Elliot G. Pulham in applauding the launch this month of three near-simultaneous Mars exploration missions. Pulham today urged the member nations of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) to consider how space technology spin-offs can effectively be used to improve life on Earth.
