Kathy Vinson is responsible for direction and leadership of all operational areas for the Space Foundation, including customer relations, external events, information technology, web services, human resources, volunteer resources, facilities and infrastructure. She joined the Space Foundation in 2009, and since that time has pursued functional alignment and operational excellence through relationship building, team development and the implementation of organizational policies and processes. She contributed to the Space Foundation's success in being repeatedly designated by The NonProfit Times and Best Companies Group as among the Best Non-Profit Organizations to Work For. In 2018, Vinson received the 2018 Tourism Leadership Award, presented by the Visit Colorado Springs organization.
Previously, she was among a team of six individuals who in 1994 launched Verio, an Internet service and web hosting provider, raised $1B+ funding and helped grow the company to over $750M in revenues and 5,000 employees. Verio then carried out an IPO with a $1.2B market value, and shortly after sold to NTT (Japan) for $6.1B, the largest U.S. technology acquisition by a foreign company. She continued with the NTT executive team until 2007, responsible for risk mitigation, human resources, organizational design and integration of merged/acquired entities.
