Space Discovery Institute - Astrobiology 101 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jul. 2, 2008) — Last week’s Space Foundation Space Discovery Institute class “Biology and Physical Research” allowed educators to explore immunology, brain research, cardiovascular, and skeletal impacts by delving into the effects of space on the human body. Class activities included Barany “spatial disorientation” chair use, microgravity experiments, and specialized space suit design to illustrate the rigors of space travel.

The Space Discovery Institute is comprised of five week-long, intensive, graduate-level, in-resident courses in Colorado Springs, Colo. These courses provide educators with skills and techniques to capture the imagination and interest of their students using space to inspire, enable, and propel them to study the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines.
