A nationwide celebration of U.S. space achievements and the next generation of explorers.
About National Space Day
What is National Space Day?
National Space Day, powered by Space Foundation, is a nationwide celebration of innovation, exploration, and U.S. space achievement.
National Space Day (NSD) exists to honor the people, missions and breakthroughs that have shaped the United States’ role in space exploration. From the Apollo program to the commercial space era to the Artemis missions, these achievements belong to all of us.
NSD is built for families, educators, and communities who want to celebrate these incredible feats of innovation, engineering, and collaboration together. Whether you are hosting a community event, leading a classroom activity, or gathering with your neighbors, National Space Day makes it easy to participate and feel connected to something bigger.
Educators can build excitement for space exploration through hands-on activities and guest speakers. Community organizations can host a celebration of space using our free Event Toolkit. Families can connect with friends and neighbors to host a stargazing event. The sky is not the limit when it comes to celebrating space. The possibilities are endless!
The goal of National Space Day is simple: inspire young people to see themselves in space careers and STEM field and give communities a reason to come together around exploration, discovery, and wonder.
