COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 20, 2003) — The Space Foundation and Space News announced today the addition of several significant speakers to the already powerful Strategic Space 2003 agenda. The national security space conference, scheduled 2-4 September 2003 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Omaha, Neb, is presented by the Space Foundation and Space News in support of America’s strategic space forces.

Strategic Space will be held each year in Omaha, the home of United States Strategic Command. Strong industry sponsorship support, near-sellout advanced participant registration and the strong program of speakers comprising a “Who’s Who” in military space have helped make the inaugural Strategic Space conference an early success. Speakers announced today include

  • Mr. Richard DalBello, president, Satellite Industry Association, confirmed for the “Acquisition Roundtable – Translating Ideas Into Action and Concepts Into Capabilities” panel on Wednesday.
  • Maj Gen Robert S. Dickman, USAF (Retired), Deputy for Military Space, Office of the Under Secretary of the Air Force and BG Richard Geraci, USA, director, National Security Space Architect, both confirmed for the “Shaping Policy to Meet Strategic Requirements” panel on Wednesday.
  • Brig Gen (Select) Larry D. James, USAF, Deputy Director of Operations, Air Force Space Command, confirmed for the “Warfighter’s Toolkit -Part 1” panel on Wednesday. James was the principal space representative deployed on the ground in Iraq, and brings great perspective on the Iraqi Freedom lessons learned.

Anderson, NASA Mission Specialist and Ms. Jane Noseworthy, Miss Nebraska 2003, who will sing the National Anthem. The reception will take place at Omaha’s stunning Strategic Air & Space Museum and is co-sponsored by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.

Lord, USAF, Commander, Air Force Space Command; and the Honorable Peter B. Teets, Under Secretary of the Air Force and director, National Reconnaissance Office.
