China's space program leader to address 22nd National Space Symposium

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 21, 2006) — The Space Foundation confirmed today that Mr. Luo Ge, vice administrator, China National Space Administration (CNSA), will be a featured speaker at the 22nd National Space Symposium. He will address symposium attendees Wednesday, April 5 at 8:30 a.m. The 22nd National Space Symposium takes places April 3-6, 2006, at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. Luo will lead a delegation of senior officials and executives from China to participate in the conference. With the success of Shenzhou V in 2003, China became only the third nation to launch a manned spacecraft into orbit. In 2005, the two-man crew of Shenzhou VI orbited the Earth for 115 hours. China has announced plans for a lunar mission by 2017. Prior to appointment to his current position as Vice Administrator in 2004, Luo served as the Deputy Director General and Director General of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the CNSA. Luo also has worked in the Ministry of Aerospace, the Second Academy of the Ministry of Aerospace, and the China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC). The 22nd National Space Symposium is the premier annual space industry conference and draws senior leaders from civil, commercial, and national security space organizations to participate as speakers, panelists, exhibitors, and attendees.
