Legendary Band Three Dog Night to Open Strategic Space and Defense 2007

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 14, 2007) —  Legendary music icons THREE DOG NIGHT will open Strategic Space and Defense 2007 with a performance on Tuesday, 9 October 2007.  Presented by the Space Foundation and Space News, Strategic Space and Defense 2007, a global security conference for space and defense professionals, will take place at the Qwest Center Omaha Convention Center in Omaha, Neb., 9 – 11 October 2007. The opening ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. in the lower level of the Qwest Center.

“The performance of classic rock band THREE DOG NIGHT to kick off Strategic Space and Defense 2007 continues the tradition of having top-level entertainment begin this event,” said Bill Klanke, publisher Space News and vice president of trade publishing, Imaginova. “We are delighted that the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce and Lockheed Martin have worked together to sponsor the performance of the world-renown THREE DOG NIGHT.”

THREE DOG NIGHT’s hits wind through the fabric of pop culture today. Now in their fourth decade of performing – they had more top 10 hits, moved more records, and sold more concert tickets than any other group from 1969 through 1974. Their most famous hits including “Mama Told Me (Not To Come),” “Joy to the World,” “Shambala,” “One,” and many others have been heard on the radio, in commercials, and major motion pictures. The group, consisting of Cory Wells, Danny Hutton, Jimmy Greenspoon, Michael Allsup, Paul Kingery, and Pat Bautz, maintains an active year-round touring schedule of more than 80 dates per year.

Strategic Space and Defenseis the definitive global security conference for space and defense professionals. Participants include the senior leadership of U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), its component and supported commands, representatives of the national security industrial base, major government contractors, federal officials, and allied partners. This unique conference includes two full days of featured speakers and panel sessions, luncheons, an exhibit center, and more.

Projected changes at USSTRATCOM will present new players, issues, and relationships. Featured speakers and panelists will address pertinent and timely topics including the command of the future, Joint Functional Component Commands (JFCCs) and mission integration, space situational awareness, global strike, operationally responsive space, missile defense, and international perspectives including integrating global space operations.

The opening ceremony and reception are co-sponsored by Lockheed Martin and the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.
