Space Foundation to Hold Space Business Forum: New York

Written by: developer

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May. 6, 2008) — The Space Foundation has created a compelling new event focused exclusively on the needs of the New York financial community.  The inaugural Space Business Forum: New York is designed for Wall Street analysts, investment bankers, institutional advisors, and high-risk insurers to engage in a meaningful dialogue with industry leaders about aerospace financing and investment opportunities across the $251 billion space economy from new commercial space ventures to established space-related businesses. This one-day, exclusive event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18 at the Hilton New York Hotel in New York City.

“Space Business Forum: New York is a different animal for a different customer — the individuals whose views on our industry are critical to financing the future,” said Space Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer Elliot G. Pulham.  “We’re shaping a powerhouse agenda including CEO and CFO-level presentations from North America and Europe.  These distinguished panelists and speakers will address traditional aerospace and defense, direct-to-consumer and mobile satellite services, venture capital and mergers and acquisitions outlooks, personal spaceflight, and more.  Again, Space Business Forum: New York isn’t for our industry, it is about our industry.”

The diverse program includes a keynote luncheon address by The Honorable Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the United States House of Representatives and chairman of the Gingrich Group, and featured remarks by Eric C. Anderson, president and chief executive officer, Space Adventures, Ltd.; Francois Auque, chief executive officer, EADS Astrium; John B. Higginbotham, managing member, SpaceVest; Jean-Yves LeGall, chairman and chief executive officer, Arianespace; and Joanne M. Maguire, executive vice president, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company.

Panel topics include “Sector Performance, Trends, and Expectations: Space, Aerospace, Defense, and Defense Electronics,” “Government Acquisitions — Where Space Dollars are Flowing in Aerospace,” “Hedgefunds and Private Equity,” “Climate Change and Green Energy: Meeting the Challenges with Space Technology,” and “Converged Media- A Natural for Space.” Among confirmed moderators for these panels are Anita M. Antenucci, managing director, Houlihan Lokey Howard and Zukin; Hoyt Davidson, managing member, Near Earth, LLC.; and Heidi R. Wood, managing director and senior equity analyst in aerospace, defense, and defense electronics, Morgan Stanley.

Conference underwriters include ISDR Consulting and SpaceVest. AVIATION WEEK is the media sponsor.  A full list of confirmed speakers, a preliminary agenda, frequent updates, and online registration are available at www.SpaceBusinessForum.com. Note that seats are limited.
