Stevens New Director of Communications and Public Outreach for Space Foundation

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 23, 2009) — Janet P. Stevens, APR, has joined the Space Foundation as director – communications and public outreach. The Space Foundation is an international nonprofit organization that advances space-related endeavors to inspire, enable and propel humanity. Stevens is responsible for supporting the Space Foundation’s mission through relationships with targeted constituent groups, including the media.

Stevens, a 30-year public relations professional, most recently was senior vice president – public relations for Idearc, Inc., provider of Superpages.comTM and publisher of Verizon Yellow Pages. Prior to that, Stevens held multiple public relations, communications and advertising positions with GTE and Verizon. She also served in quality management for Fidelity Investments, a role that grew out of her leadership in GTE Directory’s 1994 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

Stevens holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Fla., and is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America. She is based at Space Foundation headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo.
