Northrop Grumman Chief Executive and President Wes Bush to Speak at 27th National Space Symposium

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (April 8, 2011) – Northrop Grumman CEO and President Wes Bush will discuss our nation’s space development programs in a speech to the National Space Symposium on April 12, including consideration of what the space industry needs to do to return to sustainability in the current difficult economic environment.

In addition to Bush, other Northrop Grumman executives who will speak at the Symposium include Gary Ervin, corporate vice president and president, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, who will host the opening ceremony on April 11, David Di Carlo, sector vice president, Space Systems Division, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, who will be a featured panelist on April 12, and Kathy Warden, sector vice president and general manager, Cyber Intelligence Division, Northrop Grumman Information Systems, who will be a featured panelist on April 11.

James Webb Space Telescope Media Briefing
Northrop Grumman will also host a media briefing April 13 on the James Webb Space Telescope’s technical milestones and fabrication progress with Scott Willoughby, Northrop Grumman Webb Telescope director. Willoughby will provide an update of the Webb Telescope’s engineering progress and details on the production of the primary mirror segments, backplane, sunshield and spacecraft element. Nearly 75 percent of the observatory mass is in fabrication, and all 18 hexagonal flight mirrors will be completed this year. The briefing will review the engineering challenges met to date and the technical progress the telescope is making as it moves into the integration and test phase of the program.
