Aerojet Vice President of Engineering Honored with Purdue’s Outstanding Mechanical Engineer Award

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2012) – Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced today that its Vice President of Engineering, Marvin Young, will be receiving Purdue University’s Outstanding Mechanical Engineer (OME) Award at a banquet this Friday, Nov. 2.
The prestigious OME award was established by Purdue in 1991 to honor alumni who have demonstrated exemplary accomplishments and leadership related to the mechanical engineering industry.

Young has served with Aerojet for more than 26 years. In his current role, he oversees more than 700 mechanical, electrical, systems and software engineers for the company. His leadership over Aerojet’s engineering activities drives the development and fielding of rocket propulsion systems for defense and aerospace applications.
Dedicated to technical innovation, Young spearheads Aerojet’s annual R.B. Young award program – a program that recognizes and nurtures technology achievements among employees in the safety & environmental, quality & manufacturing, product development and science & engineering fields.
Young holds an Engineering degree from Stanford University, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University as well as a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.
