Aerojet Employees Make 2012 a Year of Giving

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Jan. 9, 2013) – Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced today that its employees across the country rallied to provide assistance following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy last October. Aided with a dollar-for-dollar match by the GenCorp Foundation, Aerojet contributions to the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army for Hurricane Sandy disaster relief efforts totaled $22,160.
“The entire Aerojet family is humbled to be able to help those in need,” said Aerojet Vice President of Human Resources, Elizabeth Zacharias. “Service and volunteerism are part of our culture. Our employees want to give back to the community and, as an organization, it is our responsibility to help maximize their investments.
Last year, Aerojet employees logged more than 11,000 hours volunteering at 52 nonprofit organizations and schools, making a $230,000 total value community impact. The GenCorp Foundation contributed $40,500 to those same organizations to help further their missions.
Along with helping employees access diverse volunteering opportunities, Aerojet contributes ten $250 donations quarterly to randomly selected charities and schools where employees volunteer their time and talents. Recently, through the Aerojet Delivers employee giving campaign, employees pledged more than $385,000 through payroll deductions to more than 587 charities and schools. The GenCorp Foundation’s Educational Gift Matching Program also matches employee financial gifts to education. In 2012, employees gave $107,872 to K-12 schools and universities which were then matched, dollar-for-dollar, by the GenCorp Foundation.
