Two New Members for the Satellite Industry Assciation O3b Networks and ITT Exelis

Washington, D.C. (Feb. 7, 2013) – The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) is pleased to announce that O3b Networks and ITT Exelis have joined as new members. “SIA welcomes O3b Networks and ITT Exelis as its first new members of 2013,” SIA President, Patricia Cooper said. “O3b Networks and ITT Exelis, Inc. bring innovation and diversity to SIA’s growing global satellite service provider membership.”
O3b Networks will be launching and operating a global constellation of Medium Earth Orbit Ka-band satellites, providing Internet backbone for telecommunications operators, Internet service providers, to enterprise and government customers in emerging markets. The O3b system will combine the global reach of satellite with the speed of a fiber‐optic network to enable low latency, high‐speed, affordable, Internet and mobile connectivity to consumers and businesses in nearly 180 countries.
ITT Exelis is an experienced provider of networked communications and satellite technology. Exelis provides mission-critical and next generation solutions for the command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance market. In addition, Exelis has extensive experience in satellite technologies including remote sensing satellite systems and GPS satellite payloads, active and motion imaging, anti-jam signal generation data encryption, information processing and systems performance modeling and simulation.
