Aerojet Rocketdyne Receives Environmental Excellence Award for its Arkansas Facility Project

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2013) – Aerojet Rocketdyne, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced today that it has been chosen by the Arkansas Environmental Federation (AEF) as the recipient of the 2013 Diamond Award for Excellence in Environmental Leadership.

Each year, the AEF Diamond Award recognizes one company that demonstrates initiative and/or leadership in managing its environmental efforts.   Aerojet Rocketdyne won this award for the Biological Remediation Project, an innovative, environmentally-sustainable perchlorate remediation projectat its Camden, Ark., facility.

The Biological Remediation Project,thefirst full-scale perchlorate remediation in Arkansas, utilized natural biological methods to recycle the soil, as opposed to the traditional industry practice of “dig and haul” soil removal.  In addition to far exceeding mandated clean-up goals for both soil and groundwater, the project resulted in establishment of a natural environment.

Aerojet Rocketdyne formally will receive its award at the AEF’s 46^th Annual Convention and Trade Show being held at the Hot Springs Convention Center in Hot Springs, Ark., in early October.  As the award recipient, the company will give a presentation on the Biological RemediationProject to all attendees and media.  In addition, AEF plans to publish an article detailing the project in its September/October quarterly journal.
