Space Foundation is EnVision Center National STEM Education Partner

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 7, 2018) – This morning, Secretary Ben Carson and Space Foundation Chief Executive Officer Thomas E. Zelibor participated in a ceremony at Life Remodeled in Detroit, Mich., to debut the EnVision Center Demonstration, a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development initiative to help HUD-assisted households “climb the ladder of opportunity.”
To support STEM education in the U.S., the Space Foundation is partnering with other supporting organizations as part of the nationwide EnVision Center Demonstration initiative.
“The strength of the EnVision Center concept, combined with Space Foundation educational expertise, will help achieve the goal of expanding opportunities for more Americans to become self-sufficient. We are proud to be a part of this initiative,” said Zelibor.
The Colorado-based Space Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with education outreach that focuses on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs for Pre-K students through college level, presented by Space Foundation accredited educators.
The Space Foundation annually serves more than 46,000 students with in-person and virtual STEM education programs at its Discovery Center in Colorado Springs and at schools across the United States.
“Proficiency in STEM subjects increases academic performance in other subjects. A goal is to inspire and engage students in the technology and learning that will lead them to 21st Century careers,” said Bryan DeBates, Space Foundation Vice President – Education. “Our programs will effectively support three of the EnVision Center pillars: Educational Advancement, Economic Empowerment and Character and Leadership.”
