Space Foundation Partners With Operation Homefront to Support Military Families

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — May 16, 2023 —  Space Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1983, offering information, education and collaboration for the global space ecosystem, today announced that in commemoration of Memorial Day it is partnering with Operation Homefront to make an astronomical impact for students and military families.

During the month of May and continuing through Father’s Day, June 18, every $50 donation made to Space Foundation will fund an immersive STEAM experience for a student and gift a Space Foundation Discovery Center Passport membership to a family served by Operation Homefront. The Passport membership will allow year-long entry to Space Foundation Discovery Center in addition to more than 350 science centers and museums worldwide, igniting learning opportunities for children and providing military families with the opportunity to spend quality time together.

Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit that builds strong, stable and secure military families so they can thrive — not simply struggle to get by — in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. The organization provides relief, resiliency, and recurring family support programs and services throughout the year to help military families overcome short-term difficulties so they don’t become long-term hardships.

Commenting on the partnership, Operation Homefront’s Area Manager Beth Desloges said, “As a military spouse of over 26 years myself, I have seen the struggles our military families experience when trying to integrate into a new community every few years. It is so impactful when local businesses and institutions, like Space Foundation, reach out to our families and welcome them with open arms by providing free memberships and experiences. In many cases, it is because of opportunities like this that families feel comfortable leaving base to explore their new community.”
