Space Foundation to Celebrate World Space Week 2024

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Sept. 11, 2024 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1983, offering education, collaboration and information for the global space ecosystem, today announced programming for its celebration of World Space Week 2024, Oct. 4-10. This year, the theme for the annual event is “Space and Climate Change,” to highlight the pivotal role of space technology in combating climate challenges and showcase the dynamic ways space exploration enriches our understanding of Earth’s climate systems.

“We are thrilled to bring our community together to explore how space can address some of the biggest challenges on our planet,” said Terry Bramschreiber, director of Space Foundation Discovery Center and Accreditation. “Our mission during World Space Week is not just to dream of reaching the stars but also to use space technology for practical solutions to Earth’s pressing issues and to create a vibrant space ecosystem where everyone can see their role and opportunities.”

This year’s World Space Week programming promises to be an out-of-this-world experience for everyone — from curious families and aspiring students to industry experts and space enthusiasts. Highlights of the week include:

  • Special Presentations in our Science On a Sphere® Theater: Watch as we bring climate change to life on a giant globe, showcasing real-time data and stunning visuals from space.
  • Hands-On Challenges and Activities: Engage in exciting, space-themed challenges and creative activities at Space Foundation Discovery Center.
  • Hands-On Crafts in our Education Activity Center: Create your own space-themed crafts and take home a piece of the cosmos!
  • Complete Challenges in the Drone Zone: Test your piloting skills and see if you’ve got what it takes to navigate the drones in our exciting challenges.
  • Tesla’s Toolbox – World Space Week Edition: Discover groundbreaking innovations and hands-on activities that link space technology with everyday life.
