Wolfgang Duerr
Vice President & Head of Global Business Institutional Space, Airbus Defence and Space
Wolfgang Duerr is Vice President and Head of Global Business Institutional Space at Airbus Defence and Space. He covers the Airbus Space Systems portfolio with focus on business with the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Union (EU), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), other Space Agencies and institutional organizations around the globe.
He joined the Board of Directors Space Foundation in 2023 and is Chairman of the Committee for Military Space at the German Aerospace Association (BDLI).
He held several executive positions at Airbus and the former EADS-Astrium, and served from 10/2015-12/2018 as Director and Senior Advisor Space to Airbus North America in Washington DC. He represented Airbus in the Board of Directors German American Business Council (GABC) from 11/2015-12/2019 and was President of the Luxembourg based European Industry Association Euro2Moon from 10/2021-03/2024.
Before joining EADS/Airbus in 2008, he served for more than 20 years in the German Air Force/ Luftwaffe in national/international operational, staff, and commanding assignments. He is a distinguished graduate from the United States Air Force Air Command and Staff College Academic Year 2005, awarded with the Brigadier General Robbie Risner International Officers Leadership Award for outstanding professionalism, leadership and academic achievement. He is still an Officer of the Reserve Corps in the rank of Colonel (General Staff),
Wolfgang Duerr holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of the German Armed Forces Munich, and a Master of Military Operational Art and Science, from the Air University USAF in Montgomery/AL, USA. He graduated from the Senior Leadership Course (SP12) of the Federal Academy for Security Policy (BAKS) in Berlin by invitation of the Chancellors Office.
