Matt Ondler

Matt Ondler serves as President and Chief Strategy Officer at Aegis Aerospace, where he leads the company’s strategic vision. long-term growth initiatives, and day-to-day operations.

Before joining Aegis Aerospace, Matt held multiple executive roles at the commercial space station developer Axiom Space, including Chief Strategy Officer, President, Chief Technology Officer, and Program Manager for the Axiom Station.  During his tenure the company raised >$600M in venture capital, flew four international astronaut missions to the ISS, grew from 17 to over 800 staff, won NASA’s next generation spacesuit contract, and became the leader in commercial space station development

With over 40 years of engineering and leadership experience across government, large business, and tech startups, Matt brings deep expertise in aerospace innovation. He spent 28 years at NASA, where he held various technical and management positions, culminating in his role as Assistant Director of Engineering at the Johnson Space Center, overseeing advanced exploration systems development. Following his government service, he served as a senior executive at Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies, a leading support contractor for NASA and the Department of Defense. Later he founded and led Houston Mechatronics, Inc., a robotics and intelligent automation company, as President and CEO.  He led Houston Mechatronics from a 3-person startup to $60M market valuation.

Matt has received NASA’s Outstanding Leadership Medal and Exceptional Achievement Medal. He holds a degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder and an MBA from the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business.
