Chip Davis and Mannheim Steamroller to Perform at Strategic Space Conference

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sep. 16, 2004) — The Space Foundation and the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce announced today that multi-million album selling American Gramaphone artist Chip Davis and Mannheim Steamroller will be featured performers for the Tuesday, 5 October Welcoming Ceremony of the Strategic Space 2004 Conference. The conference is scheduled 5-7 October at the Qwest Center. “We are thrilled to have Omaha’s own Chip Davis kickoff the Strategic Space Conference and are delighted that our friends at the Omaha Chamber have secured his participation,” said Elizabeth Wagner, vice president of Strategic Partnerships for the Space Foundation. Known for his Fresh Aire series and Mannheim Steamroller Christmas albums, Davis also has re-introduced C.W. McCall with a recent chart-topping album called American Spirit. Following the Welcoming Ceremony and Mannheim Steamroller performance, the Opening Reception, co-sponsored by Northrop Grumman, will showcase an all-new, 8,000-sq. ft. sold-out exhibit hall featuring the latest in technologies, systems and solutions supporting U.S. Strategic Command. This is the second year of the Strategic Space conference, which features an expanded interactive program addressing the full spectrum of missions of the Command. Top military leaders, government officials, and executives from throughout the space industry meet to discuss the programs, policies and issues affecting America’s strategic forces. Featured speakers include Gen James E. Cartwright, USMC, Commander, U.S. Strategic Command; the Honorable Newt Gingrich, chief executive officer of The Gingrich Group; Gen Lance W. Lord, USAF, Commander, Air Force Space Command; and Gen Thomas S. Moorman, Jr., USAF (Retired), vice president, Booz Allen Hamilton.
