Boeing executive Brewster Shaw appointed to Space Foundation board of directors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Mar. 23, 2006) — The Space Foundation announces the appointment of Col Brewster Shaw, Jr., USAF (Retired) to the Space Foundation board of directors.Shaw is the vice president and general manager of Space Exploration, Integrated Defense Systems at The Boeing Company. He is responsible for the strategic direction of civil space programs and other programs including the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, and Space Exploration Systems. Shaw was named this week to a three-year term retroactively effective to January 26, 2006. Shaw, a former astronaut with more than 533 hours in space, served until 2006 as the Chief Operating Officer of the United Space Alliance (USA) where he was in command of day-to-day operations and overall management of USA, the main contractor for the Space Shuttle Program. Shaw was previously the vice president and deputy general manager for Boeing NASA Systems and the vice president and general manager for Boeing ISS, responsible for leading an industry team in designing, developing, testing, launching, and operating NASA’s international orbiting laboratory.
