COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jul. 14, 2006) — Instrumental in the creation of the first International Space Pavilion (ISP) at the Farnborough International Airshow in 2004, the Space Foundation is hosting an exhibit and facilitating presentation and networking opportunities at the 45th Farnborough International Airshow (FIA). The FIA takes place July 17-23, 2006, in Farnborough, England. The Space Foundation’s exhibit, highlighting its many programs integrating civil, commercial, and national security space, can be found in the ISP in Hall 5, Stand ISP6. The FIA is one of the biggest, most internationally attended aerospace events, where exhibitors from around the world showcase a broad range of products and services featuring current and future developments in aerospace technology. The ISP reflects the strength and growth of the global space industry and the influence of space in the world today. ISP exhibitors demonstrate how space exploration provides some of the most important scientific developments and revolutionizes life on Earth in areas such as communications, defense, health, transportation, public safety, recreation, and the environment. Space Day in the ISP will take place Wednesday, July 19, with a series of activities and seminars addressing the “International Future for Space.” This high profile event will provide a forum for industry leaders to meet, network and discuss the future of the global space industry. NASA Administrator, The Honorable Dr. Michael D. Griffin; United Kingdom Minister for Science and Engineering, Lord Sainsbury; and Director General of the European Space Agency, Jean-Jacques Dordain, are expected to attend. The Farnborough International Airshow is organized by Farnborough International Limited (FIL), a subsidiary company of the UK’s aerospace trade association, the Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC).
