Additional Speakers Announced for Strategic Space and Defense 2008

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 19, 2008) — Conference organizers announced the confirmation of additional featured speakers and panelists at Strategic Space and Defense 2008. Presented by the Space Foundation and Space News, Strategic Space and Defense 2008 is the global security conference for space and defense professionals. Featuring the foremost military, defense industry, and government leaders, the conference is set to take place at the Qwest Omaha Convention Center and Arena in Omaha, Neb., 6-8 October.
Recently confirmed featured speakers at Strategic Space and Defense 2008 are Lt. Gen. Kevin T. Campbell, USA, commander, Space Missile Defense Command; Lt. Gen. William L. Shelton, USAF, commander, 14th Air Force (Air Forces Strategic), Air Force Space Command, and commander, JFCC-Space, United States Strategic Command; and Mr. David McGlade, chief executive officer, Intelsat, Ltd. Campbell is scheduled to give featured remarks at 1030 hrs, Wednesday, 8 October, and Shelton will give featured remarks at 1445 hrs, Tuesday, 7 October. McGlade is the industry keynote speaker and will give featured remarks at 1330 hrs, Tuesday, 7 October.
Other confirmed speakers include Maj. Gen. Roger W. Burg, USAF, commander, 20th Air Force, Air Force Space Command, and commander, Task Force 214, United States Strategic Command; Air Cdre Mark Lee Roberts (UK, RAF), director of air staff, Royal Air Force; CMSgt Todd Small, USAF, command chief, Air Force Space Command; Gen. Bernard Molard, (French Air Force, Retired), security and defense advisor to the EADS ASTRIUM CEO; Mr. Guy DuBois, vice president of operational technologies and solutions, Raytheon Intelligence and Information Systems; and Mr. Frederick Ricker, sector vice president and general manager, Military Systems Division, Northrop Grumman Space Technology. Burg, Roberts, Small, Molard, DuBios, and Ricker will be participating in various panels throughout the conference addressing land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace integration and strategic deterrence among other pertinent topics.
These individuals join previously confirmed speakers, including U.S. Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher, Chairwoman, Strategic Forces Subcommittee, House and Services Committee; Gen. Kevin P. Chilton, USAF, commander, United States Strategic Command; Vice Adm. Carl V. Mauney, USN, deputy commander, United States Strategic Command; and Chief Master Sgt. Thomas S. Narofsky, USAF, command chief master sergeant, United States Strategic Command.
The Strategic Space and Defense program will incorporate two full days of featured speeches and panel sessions, a keynote luncheon and dinner, and various networking opportunities with key decision makers at receptions, breakfasts, and an exhibit center luncheon. Additional new features and developments in 2008 include changes to the exhibit center such as a 1500 sq. ft. “conference networking area” and the relocation of the conference sessions adjacent to the exhibit center. More than 2,000 participants attended last year’s conference.
Co-sponsors for Strategic Space and Defense 2008 include ATK, Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Booz Allen Hamilton, CSC, Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.
