10 High-Tech Companies to Compete for $100,000 Prize

MELBOURNE, Fla. ( June 28, 2011) – Space Florida and the Technological Research and Development Authority (TRDA) jointly announced today the 10 companies selected to present at the I2 (Igniting Innovation) Capital Acceleration Showcase scheduled for September 7, 2011 in Cape Canaveral. The companies were chosen from among a group of 62 Florida technology firms that applied last month for a chance to present their business case at the I2Showcase.
“These firms convey the strength and diversity Florida’s high-tech community,” said Space Florida President and CEO Frank DiBello. “The creative solutions these companies are deploying clearly demonstrate the significant potential that exists for Florida’s high-tech growth in the near term. We look forward to helping these businesses reach their goals.” Space Florida will award one of the presenting companies a cash prize of $100,000 at the conclusion of the Showcase event.

“After managing the Showcase selection process for Space Florida, TRDA is now ready to provide additional business guidance to help advance the financing and commercialization efforts of these companies,” said Chester J. Straub, TRDA Executive Director. “By September 7th these firms will be well prepared to engage the investment community and strategic partners.”
Space Florida and TRDA expect to attract more than 200 investors, business development executives and entrepreneurs to the Showcase event located at the Radisson at Port Canaveral. The day-long forum will highlight aviation, aerospace, biotech, life science, clean tech, defense, homeland security, IT and telecommunications businesses in the morning. The afternoon business plan session will feature presentations on the latest clean tech opportunities from 10 additional Florida companies.
