Written by: developer

Douglas, Isle of Man (Oct. 1, 2012) – 22 participants from 11 countries took part in the graduation ceremony on 21st September 2012, with the majority of them receiving a degree in masters of business administration from the International Space University (ISU). This is the second cohort receiving this degree which was created by the ISU in response to a request from the space sector to provide a course tailored to the specific needs of that sector.

The graduation took place on the Isle of Man which is symbolic of the progress that the Isle of Man has made in becoming increasingly recognized internationally as a centre of excellence for the New Space Economy.

Prof. R. Oosterlinck, chairman of the ISU Board of Trustees was part of the jury and stated:“I was impressed by the level of the presentations. It shows how the space professionals participating in the course have gained each of them a lot of interdisciplinary knowledge which they will be able to apply back in their organizations and, no doubt, will be an asset for their respective careers.”

Alex F. Downie MLC, Member for the Isle of Man Government’s Department of Economic Development with responsibility for the space sector was pleased that the graduation took place on the Isle. “We are pleased that 3 of the graduates, are from the Isle of Man and that they are in addition to 3 previous Island based graduates who completed the last course which ran 2 years ago. Such skill development is necessary to build up expertise and service levels here on the Island in order to respond to the growing number of space related businesses looking to locate here. As such, the alliance between ISU and the Isle of Man is a key element of our strategy and is proving to be a win-win situation.”
