SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Dec. 6, 2012) –  Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced at its leadership training event on Wednesday, Dec. 5, that more than 120 Aerojet executives and managers from around the country assembled dozens of care packages for U.S. troops as part of a team building exercise.

A total of 30 large care packages containing items such as toiletries, medicine, socks, playing cards and snacks were assembled by teams in just 30 minutes. Aerojet President Warren Boley (pictured below, left) symbolically presented the first completed care package to Kristen Kirkpatrick, chief development officer for the American Red Cross, Capital Region Chapter (pictured below, middle), and Sergeant Richard Coulson with the U.S. Army (pictured below, right).

“At Aerojet, we take every opportunity we can to support the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, whom we help protect and empower each day through our work,” said Boley. “I can think of no better way to promote our company’s culture and mission while conducting a valuable training program for our leaders.”

Boley said that, in addition, this week Aerojet contributed 1,000 greeting cards with personalized messages from its 3,300 employees to the American Red Cross’ “Holiday Mail for Heroes” program for distribution to soldiers around the globe. “I hope the care packages and greeting cards help significantly brighten the holidays for our troops. The two projects certainly have been profoundly meaningful activities for our employees throughout the nation.”
