Aerojet Rocketdyne Sacramento Facility Receives Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award

Written by: developer

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 26, 2013) – Aerojet Rocketdyne, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced today that its Sacramento facility is a 2013 recipient of the Defense Security Service’s (DSS) James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award.

The Cogswell Award, established in 1966, is named in honor of the late U.S. Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, the first chief of the office of Industrial Security within the Department of Defense. Cogswell was responsible for developing the basic principles of the Industrial Security Program, which include an emphasis on the partnership between industry and government to protect classified information.

“The Cogswell Award recognizes industrial security excellence, and Aerojet Rocketdyne exemplifies that standard in all of its security operations,” said Kyle Frigo, Sacramento facility security officer. “We strive to be an elite team of security professionals and work diligently to protect the work the country entrusts us to execute. This award is to be shared with the entire facility, and our security team is to be commended for this achievement.”

This year, DSS presented the James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award to 24 of 13,800 defense contractors that are eligible for this award. The award criteria focus on principles of industrial security excellence. Factors include establishing and maintaining a security program that far exceeds the basic National Industrial Security Program requirements and providing leadership to other cleared facilities in establishing best practices while maintaining the highest standards for security.

Aerojet Rocketdyne is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to the space, missile defense, strategic, tactical missile and armaments sectors for both domestic and international markets.
