Space Foundation Cyber 1.4 Has Launched

The Space Foundation’s annual cyberspace conference began May 19 with a networking breakfast at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo. Each year, this cyber conference precedes the opening ceremony of the Space Symposium. Although separate conferences, both are presented by the Space Foundation and complement each other in offering forums for discussing crucial issues facing the global space community.
Cyber 1.4 opens with featured speaker Congressman Lamar Smith (R-TX), Chairman of the United States House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. Other featured speakers during the day include:
- Maj. Gen. James K. “Kevin” McLaughlin, USAF, Commander, 24th Air Force and Air Forces Cyber
- Maj. Gen. Craig S. Olson, USAF, Program Executive Officer for C3I and Networks, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass.
The Space Foundation began hosting its annual cyber conference in 2010, taking the initiative to address a growing need by including an entire day of cyber-related discussion in conjunction with the annual Space Symposium. Since its inception, this annual cyber conference has expanded beyond a military-focused event to include diverse players in the cyber domain. One such panel at Cyber 1.4 is “We’re All in This Together: a Shared Stake in a More Secure Cyber Domain.” The panel will be moderated by Dewey Houck, Vice President and General Manager, Electronic & Information Solutions, The Boeing Company, with panelists:

- Dean Cheng, Senior Researcher, Heritage Foundation
