The Space Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with World Space Week Association (WSWA) for continued collaboration between the two organizations.

The signing took place in Vienna on June 17, with Remco Timmermans, Executive Director, World Space Week Association, and Steve Eisenhart, Space Foundation Senior Vice President Strategic & International Affairs, representing their respective organizations.

WSWA is a non-government, non-profit, non-membership organization led by volunteers from around the world, and supports the United Nations in the global coordination of World Space Week, held every Oct. 4 – 10.

The Space Foundation celebrates World Space Week every fall with a full week of space-themed activities at its World Headquarters and Discovery Center in Colorado Springs. One of last year’s events was a Google Hangouts live video presentation to students at a school in India by Space Foundation Special Advisor – Human Spaceflight Dr. Leroy Chiao. Chiao is a former NASA astronaut and he shared his experiences in space with students gathered in the auditorium at Vidya Valley Middle School in Pune. Chiao spoke to the students and showed his photos from a meeting room at Space Foundation World Headquarters. The students also had the opportunity to ask questions of Dr. Chiao.
