Get Your Costume On with Stargazing and Safe Indoor Mad Science Fun at the Discovery Center

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Oct. 24, 2016) – The Space Foundation Discovery Center is getting in the spirit of October with family-friendly, costume-encouraged events this week. Experience our new, free Family Star Party on Wednesday, Oct. 26, and a special two-day Mad Science-themed Star Days event, Oct. 28 and 29.
Family Star Party — Weds. Oct. 26, 6:30 — 8:00 p.m.
Families are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes for a chance to win a 3D printed prize! We will examine the night sky and discover the wonders of the universe. This event creates a fun, learning environment for the whole family, and inspires the next generation of astronomy enthusiasts! All outside activities are free, and discounted Discovery Center admission is available for those wishing to explore El Pomar Space Gallery, catch a presentation on Science On a Sphere® and enjoy some light refreshments.
Star Days: Mad Science! — Fri. & Sat., Oct 28-29, 10:00 a.m. — 4:00 p.m.
Everyone at the Space Foundation Discovery Center has gone MAD! For two days, guests are encouraged to come wearing their favorite space or science costume, and participate with us in some spacey fun for “Star Days: Mad Science.” Watch mad science movies, play space games, learn about famous science fiction authors and their characters and even make a little science of your own. Mad Science demonstrations will be available at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day with special treat stations throughout the gallery.
The GalaxyFest team will stop by on Friday, Oct. 28, with an information table, crafts and treats.
Our friends at Chick-fil-A and their famous, “Eat Mor Chikin” Cow will make a special appearance on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 11:00 a.m. — 1:00 p.m. along with the Ninjaneers FLL Robotics Team.
“Star Days,” sponsored in part by Raytheon and Uwingu, are held one Saturday each month at the Discovery Center with a special space theme and extra activities appropriate for all ages. No advance registration is needed for these programs.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The December Star Days Theme is “A Galaxy Far, Far Away” and will feature a special viewing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Saturday, Dec. 3, at 11:00 a.m., included with regular Discovery Center admission.
