Space Foundation to Host State of Space 2023 Program on Feb. 16

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Feb. 9, 2023 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1983, offering information, education and collaboration for the global space ecosystem, today announced that it will host its annual program, State of Space, on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. EST.

The fifth annual event will stream on Space Foundation’s Symposium365; there is no cost to attend.

Commenting on this year’s program, Space Foundation CEO Tom Zelibor said, “We are in a new renaissance for space with revolutionary opportunities for shared exploration, commerce, research, innovation and security. To secure the promise of a growing and enterprising space economy, space must be viewed, funded and resourced as a critical infrastructure to protect it for future generations.”

State of Space 2023 includes opening remarks from Zelibor detailing the importance of space as critical infrastructure and features five unique viewpoints from a select group of industry experts, showcasing diverse perspectives and experiences that are part of today’s global space ecosystem.

  • National security: Kari Bingen, Director, Aerospace Security Project and Senior Fellow, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)
  • International: Dr. Simonetta Di Pippo, Director of the Space Economy Evolution Lab and former head of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA)
  • Media: Miriam Kramer, Senior Space Reporter, Axios
  • Business/Investment: Jeffrey Manber, President of International and Space Stations, Voyager Space Holdings
  • Education: Heidi Ragsdale, STEM educator and International Teacher Liaison
