COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — May 2, 2024 —  Space Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 1983, offering education, collaboration and information for the global space ecosystem, today announced that in commemoration of Memorial Day, it is partnering with Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center to make an astronomic impact on students and military families.

During the month of May and continuing through Sunday, June 16, 2024, every $50 donation made to Space Foundation will fund an immersive science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) experience for a student and gift a Space Foundation Discovery Center Passport membership to a family served by Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. The Passport membership will allow year-long entry to Space Foundation Discovery Center in addition to more than 350 science centers and museums worldwide, igniting learning opportunities and providing military families with the opportunity to spend quality time together.

“Space Foundation is proud to partner with Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center to create cherished memories for military families and provide their children with valuable STEAM resources,” said Melissa Patton, Space Foundation vice president of education. “A visit to a museum not only strengthens familial bonds but also cultivates a sense of belonging and ignites inspiration. We’re excited to extend this incredible opportunity to our esteemed service members and their families.”

Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center is a nonprofit dedicated to providing best practices for military, veterans and their families through accessible programs, integrated resources, and collaborative partnerships that empower lives and strengthen our community. With its community partners, Mt. Carmel is dramatically changing the way the military community and their families receive critical services and support.

“Mt. Carmel’s partnership with Space Foundation is all about supporting our military members, veterans and their families,” said Bob McLaughlin, executive director, Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. “Both teams working together are committed to making our community better for those who serve today and those who have served in the past.”
