March 11 is Now Deadline for Space Foundation Art Contest

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 18, 2011) — Students in PreK-12th grade are invited to enter the Space Foundation art contest, “Human Space Travel in the Year 2020.” Grand prize and first place winners will be announced by former NASA astronaut Capt. Robert L. Curbeam, Jr., USN (Retired), at the 27th National Space Symposium, to be held April 11-14, 2011, at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Finalist entries will be displayed at the Symposium outside of the new ARES Education Auditorium in the Boeing Exhibit Center Lower Level. The contest is co-sponsored by ARES Corporation and Fisher Space Pen Co.
Original artwork depicting the theme “Human Space Travel in the Year 2020” should be submitted by March 11 to the Space Foundation, 310 S. 14th St., Colorado Springs, CO, 80904.
Entries will be judged in four grade categories:
* PreK-2nd
* 3rd-5th
* 6th-8th
* 9th-12th
The contest will accept up to one entry per person in three categories:
* Drawing/Sketching
* Painting
* Multimedia
