Colorado Governor Tries Out the Mars Yard

Written by: Space Foundation Editorial Team

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper visited the Space Foundation Discovery Institute in October and tried his hand at navigating robots on the simulated Martian terrain at the Institute's Mars Yard. The governor used the opportunity to address other leaders from around Colorado who met at the Space Foundation Discovery Institute to tour the facility and learn what the Space Foundation is doing to promote STEM education.

Space Foundation education programs are based at the Space Foundation Discovery Institute, which opened in 2009 at 105 Coleridge Ave. in Colorado Springs. The Space Foundation Discovery Institute provides space- and aerospace-themed professional development, training and support for teachers and students from around the world and houses classrooms, the Mars Yard, the AGI Space Missions Simulator and NASA Educator Resource Center.
