Space Foundation Homeschool Program Expands

Written by: developer

During its one homeschool day in February, the Space Foundation Discovery Center in Colorado Springs hosted 144 visitors, a dramatic increase since the program was launched just a few months ago in November 2014. To meet the increasing demand, the Space Foundation will now offer two homeschool days per month.

The program includes hands-on science activities linked to learning about space travel and the universe in the Lockheed Martin Space Education Center (pictured), and in the Northrop Grumman Science Center, presentations on Science On a Sphere® explore the solar system and Earth systems. In EL Pomar Space Gallery, students study artifacts and models depicting the story of historic and future space exploration.

The homeschool days on March 4 and 19 will focus on rocketry, with lessons for PreK-12. Advance registration is requested here.

The Discovery Center is also open to the public. For information about hours, exhibits and fees, visit www.spacefoundation.org/museum.
