Written by: Space Foundation Editorial Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Jan.17, 2023 — Space Foundation, a nonprofit advocate organization founded in 1983 for the global space ecosystem, today announced that its Space Commerce Institute and The Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation are launching the first two entrepreneurial cohorts of LEVL5: SPACE DOCK.

In partnership with the Levan Center of Innovation, LEVL5: SPACE DOCK creates a collaborative environment in the space sector for industry, government, academia, entrepreneurs, and investors to pursue entrepreneurial activities for the advancement of the South Florida economy. The program also aims to attract professionals in all industries to be a part of the future space economy.

Kelli Kedis Ogborn, Space Foundation’s vice president of space commerce and entrepreneurship remarked, “There has never been a better time to join the space ecosystem. Every day the opportunity landscape grows, inviting all industries to bring their talent and capabilities to expand and sustain the future of space. Our programs will illuminate those insertion points and help entrepreneurs create a framework and business strategy to claim their place.”

Cohorts — LEVL5: SPACE DOCK Ideate and Create and LEVL5: SPACE DOCK Incubate and Implement — will assist entrepreneurs in understanding the opportunities available to them in the emerging space ecosystem and developing market strategies to better position their product or service.

“The space economy continues to expand providing new opportunities for early-stage and young startup companies. The Levan Center of Innovation and Space Foundation’s partnership propels the space economy by providing demanded programs supporting “spacepreneurs” at all stages of the founder’s journey including ideate, incubate, accelerate, and post-accelerate,” said John Wensveen, Ph.D., chief innovation officer, Nova Southeastern University, and executive director, Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation.

Applications for LEVL5: SPACE DOCK Ideate and Create close Jan. 30, 2023, and LEVL5: SPACE DOCK Incubate and Implement close on Feb. 6, 2023.
