ISU Develops Partnership with the Open University

Strasbourg, France (Oct. 10, 2011) – On Sept. 23, the International Space University (ISU) and the Open University (OU) fostered future collaborations by agreeing a Memorandum of Understanding.
The OU is the largest university in the United Kingdom providing educational opportunities to over 250,000 students through its unique distance learning provision. Its Central Campus is located in Milton Keynes some 80km north of Central London. The OU has an international reputation for educational and research excellence.
Prof. Nigel Mason, Associate Dean for Research and Enterprise in Faculty of Science of The Open University stated : ” The Open University has been fortunate to attract several students from the ISU’s Masters programme as Postgraduate students and they have been amongst our best graduates. We are therefore pleased to be able to offer the opportunity for some ISU students to spend their internships at the OU campus, with the potential for some of them to subsequently conduct their postgraduate degrees at the OU. We therefore look forward to developing our partnership with the ISU. “
The Faculty of Science of the OU will provide ISU M.Sc. students with the opportunity to work with renowned experts in space technology and hardware development by offering annual space-related internships. ISU Students who excel may also be considered as potential candidates to enter the Ph.D. program at the OU. Prof. Angie Bukley, ISU Dean is pleased with this new partnership: “Not only is the Open University a leader in international space and planetary science research, but it is also provides unique learning opportunities for our students. ISU is pleased that this partnership has resulted in a formal agreement, which has the potential to greatly benefit our students in their future space research endeavors as well as their professional careers. “
